Writer and journalist Antonio Lucas presides the jury of the Villa de Mazarrón story contest (27/07/2018)

The writer and journalist, Antonio Lucas, offered this Thursday in Mazarrón the conference entitled "The poetry of the story".

The intervention of Lucas served as a prelude to the award ceremony of the XXXIV Villa de Mazarrón Antonio Segado del Olmo Story Contest, whose ceremony will take place this Friday, July 27 (11pm) at the Hotel Alegría Dos Playas.

Antonio Lucas is the current president of the jury of the Princess of Asturias Awards.

The author of works such as "Lucernario" or "Las Máscaras".

The author from Madrid has also presided over the jury of the Mazarrón contest that a few days ago announced the name of its winners.

The philologist Matías Miguel Clemente, winner of the 34th edition

The contest, organized by the Popular University and the Department of Culture of the City of Mazarrón, already shows publicly the name of its winners.

The first prize will be given to the writer Matías Miguel Clemente, a native of Albacete, who presented the story entitled "Elisabetta en la piedra".

The author who has won this year has a degree in Hispanic Philology and has been a professor in Italy for five years.

In 2003 he received the Young Poetry Award from Radio3 for his work "Lo que queda".

In addition, he has published several lyrical works.

The runner-up of the contest has fallen to the illustrator Leonard Carlos García Valverde, for his story "Listen to the wind".

José María López influenced the prestige of the figure of Antonio Lucas and also highlighted the connection that the Villa de Mazarrón Tales have with the Princess of Asturias Awards of Letters, since in 2018 four of the members of his jury are related to the Villa de Mazarrón: Luis Alberto Cuenca and Came Riera were presidents of the contest in 2005 and 2006, Antonio Lucas, president this year and Ángeles Mora, winner of the Villa de Mazarrón in 1993.
