The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, attended together with the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, the meeting held in Mazarrón, of all the concessionaires of the Community's marinas with the aim of promoting an internal debate to create the necessary regulations that generate a distinctive respect for the Environment and revalue the activity that these infrastructures develop.
The logo proposed by the Ministry of Development will be a flag for which it will be necessary to meet certain requirements whose points have been discussed at the meeting. This meeting, which also had the presence of representatives of the associations of weighers and companies dedicated to sustainable projects, has taken place in the Club de Regatas de Mazarrón, whose concessionaire has invested 500,000 euros in recent years to improve its facilities environmentally, as confirmed by its president, José Hernández. The mayor, Alicia Jiménez, has praised the actions that are developing the two marinas with which the municipality counts, awarded both with the blue flag during the past summer.
Alicia Jiménez has influenced the effort of investments in generating infrastructure to avoid pollution and environmental degradation, as well as the organization of nautical training activities such as the Driza project developed in schools of the municipality and the commitment to host sporting events such as regattas or championships as the next motorboat that will take place in the Puerto de Mazarrón Marina. Patricio Valverde, Development Minister, recalled that 35% of the money contributed by the concessionaires is reversed so that the ports can carry out actions of this type.
