CAMONMAR3 returns to immerse ourselves in the waters of the Port of Mazarrón and show us the wealth of its seabed (06/09/2019)

Puerto de Mazarrón submerged: the beach at sight of fish is the name of the guided itinerary with snorkeling equipment that the CAMONMAR3 project will carry out on the seabed of the Playa del Rihuete, located in the Port of Mazarrón.

The activity aims to enhance the marine biodiversity of a very popular urban beach, surprising the participants with the biological richness and the variety of shapes and colors of marine fauna and flora that we find only a few meters from the umbrellas of the beach.

For this, from the project they will be provided with glasses, tube, fins and a submersible splint with the main species of the area.

There will be educators specialized in marine biodiversity who will teach attendees to interpret the submerged heritage.

Itinerary submerged with snorkeling equipment:

Activity date: September 14, 2019.

Place of departure: El Rihuete beach, at the height of the restaurant La Donna del Mar (Paseo Mariano Yúfera Guirao, 131B, 30860 Puerto de Mazarrón, Murcia).

Activity schedule: 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Minimum age of participation: 12 years (minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult in their charge).

This is a free activity co-financed by the FEMP, but requires prior registration (registration deadline: September 11) through the form available on the website of the Department of Marine Sciences and Applied Biology of the University of Alicante.

The activity is part of the CAMONMAR3 project: Optimization of information for the improvement of marine spatial planning in the canyons of the Escarpe de Mazarrón, Seco de Palos and "field of pockmarks".

Advances in the knowledge of bottom trawling, artisanal and recreational fishing activity.

It is an initiative of the University of Alicante that has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, through the high tide program, co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (FEMP).

The execution and dissemination of the itinerary is the responsibility of the Columbares Association and the Posidonia ecoesport company.

This itinerary has the collaboration of the City Council of Mazarrón.
