Services returns normal to the municipality after the passage of DANA (13/09/2019)

The City Council of Mazarrón, through the Department of Services and the companies that work for the session, has carried out throughout the morning of this Friday, September 13, works aimed at returning to normal in the municipality after the Depression Isolated in High Levels (DANA) that has hit the Region of Murcia in the last hours and that has left 60 liters of water per square meter in the municipality during the last 24 hours.

Specifically, municipal operators have proceeded with the cleaning of trawls that have occurred especially in the streets and highways of the districts of Mazarrón, where some of the ramblas descended strongly in the afternoon yesterday, simply causing some material damage without excessive importance.

This was confirmed today by the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the Councilor for Services, Tomás Ureña, the Councilor for Pedanías, José María Moreno, and the Councilor for Agriculture and Rural Development, Raquel Raja, who have visited the different areas.

Likewise, the streets and roads have been flushed after the removal of stones and mud that occupied the roads.

One of the points where it has also been particularly affected has been in the Camposol urbanization which, despite being one of the critical points because it is a flood zone, has not suffered material or personal damages and where the Local Police worked conscientiously all the night to meet the possible needs of the foreign population with the support of the councilor of Camposol, Silvana Buxton.

Another of the places that presented problems, as it has historically been for being an easily flooded area, was Bahía Urbanization in Puerto de Mazarrón where there have been no problems since the water has been draining conveniently throughout the early morning thanks to the work that since For weeks he is carrying out the Department of Services with sewage and scourge cleaning.

The Councilor for Services, Tomás Ureña, has stated that "the conscientious and arduous work that we have carried out these weeks before the different episodes of rains announced preparing the municipality, has paid off," referring especially to Bahia but also to other areas .

For the mayor, this positive result "is a consequence of a responsible and continuous work demonstrating that, when there is effort to manage and coordinate the resources we have, things can be done well and care for citizens as they deserve."

The cleaning of the boulevards, especially in the Ifre area, has been another of the actions highlighted by the Department of Services in the morning today.

The municipal operators have cleaned the reeds, bushes and the remains of garbage that, dragged by the rains, have filled the margins and channels of various boulevards of the municipality.

Of these, it should be noted that, due to the flood forecast of Las Moreras, Civil Protection and Local Police proceeded to cut traffic on the D-4 road that leads from Mazarrón to Morata and is expected to be open to traffic Shot in the next few hours.

The rain has fallen without causing excessive damage and has even been beneficial for the agricultural plantations of the municipality, as the Councilor of Pedanías, José María Moreno, and the Councilor for Agriculture and Rural Development, Raquel Raja, who have talked with some Mazarrón farmers on the development of the situation in the fields and interior areas of the municipality during the past morning.

For his part, the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, thanked "the magnificent work carried out by Civil Protection and the Municipal Emergency Service, Local Police and Red Cross, as well as municipal service workers and those of the contracting company Actúa , which have been perfectly coordinated at all times in response to citizen demands on the 112 telephone number that has answered fifty calls, of which 5 have been directly related to the rain episodes. "

The mayor said that "we have been very fortunate because there have been no significant material damage and the passage of DANA has not punished Mazarrón as it has done with other areas."

Therefore, Gaspar Miras wanted to "send a message of support from the people of Mazarrón to all those affected by this phenomenon in the different parts of the Region, as well as outside it" and has praised "the work that the different Emergency Services and State Security Forces and Bodies have deployed during the last hours, demonstrating courage and heroism in some cases worthy of admiration, a work that has also added 4 Civil Protection personnel from Mazarrón to the Los Alcazares area and where there have also been troops from the Mazarrón Fire Station, under the Fire Extinction Consortium of the Region of Murcia.
