| The handwritten document has also been digitized for inclusion in the 'Crimson Project' and can thus be consulted | The Municipal Archive of Mazarrón has today in its collections a new restored manuscript book.

On this occasion, the restoration of the Book of Minutes of the Mazarrón City Council from 1631 to 1637 was carried out by the company 'ConservaDo'.

The work to recover the document has been presented by the Deputy Mayor for Culture and Historical Heritage, Ginés Campillo, and the restorer of the aforementioned company in charge of the process, Mario Antonio Moreno. The interventions and treatments that have been carried out in this work have had two fundamental objectives.

On the one hand, consolidate the paper support affected by iron inks and, on the other, recover the original binding in order to avoid loss and at the same time ensure that it fulfills the function of protecting the body of the book.

With this, it is possible to return the use and functionality to the documentary set and its correct conservation is also guaranteed through the use of neutral materials and a conservation box made with archival quality materials. Mario Antonio Moreno explained that "both the operations and the treatments, the materials and products used in the intervention, are those that govern at the national and international level regarding the conservation and restoration of documentary and bibliographic heritage.

In addition, all the process with photographic images, showing the causes of the deterioration, the treatments and the materials used during the intervention process ". The Deputy Mayor for Culture and Historical Heritage has explained that "within the municipality's Historical Heritage conservation policy, not only has the document been restored, but also its digitization for inclusion in the 'Crimson Project' that will allow your consultation ".

In this way, the mayor continued "offers a much broader knowledge of what happened in the municipality, knowing its history and where we come from, which is always very important." Ginés Campillo has also praised the eagerness of the Municipal Archive "in the preservation of the documentary heritage of the municipality that has spent years restoring documents both for its enhancement and for its consultation by historians and researchers." Among them, three documents of Carlos I have been restored, the oldest preserved in the Archive of 1546, the first Book of Minutes of the year 1565 before the granting of the Villa Privilege, the Municipal Registers of 1887, 1901 and 1920 ; as well as plans for mining machinery from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
