Gaspar Miras and Diego Conesa agree on the need to strengthen primary care and hire more teachers to deal with Covid-19 (27/08/2020)

An appointment in which several issues related to the new situation caused by Covid-19 have been discussed.

After the meeting, they appeared before the press to explain those issues that are most worrying to them.One of the points discussed has been the evolution that Mazarrón has experienced in recent weeks regarding the health crisis.

The Mayor, Gaspar Miras, explained that our municipality is one of the best behaving in the Region, "with responsibility and measure, of course with that continuous trickle of cases, but without great fluctuations," explained the mayor.In addition, Gaspar Miras has communicated that this morning the news was known in which it was reported that the Health Center entered the red level "with the aim of carrying out a stricter monitoring of active cases, which we have in the municipality today today".

In this way, he has asked citizens for responsibility so that the situation remains stable, as it has been until now.For his part, Diego Conesa, wanted to thank the majority responsibility on the part of the people of Mazarrón and highlight the effort of the City Council to support businessmen and merchants "since that fateful day in which the unfortunate manifestations of the Minister of Health, pointing out the possible Confinement of the municipality, consequently damaged the economic and tourist sector during the month of August ”.Both leaders have agreed that at this time the educational situation is paramount.

There are many fronts that are currently still open ten days after starting the course.

Gaspar Miras has expressed his concern on this issue and has stressed that "my commitment to the municipality is total" and has demanded the same commitment from the Regional Government since "we have to make extra financial expenses that are not our obligation and for which we need financing".For his part, Diego Conesa recalled the City Council's disposition towards the Ministry of Education “to make available the educational spaces that may be necessary and thus be able to reduce the ratios in schools to develop a complete educational quality and health security within of the classrooms ”so“ the hiring of more teachers is extremely necessary.

We continue to insist and demand that the Regional Government hire at least 1,500 teachers and professors, including those corresponding to the municipality of Mazarrón, for the tranquility of the educational community and the families of the almost 2,000 students in all the centers educational institutions of this municipality ”.In addition, the meeting discussed the need to also hire more health personnel for Primary Care centers.

Both Diego Conesa and Gaspar Miras have agreed on the need for more trackers.

Finally, Diego Conesa took advantage of the press conference to ask the regional president, Fernando López Miras, to assume the competences and means available to the Government of Spain and which are now of extreme priority to strengthen "health and education, since it has the extraordinary resources that they have contributed to both environments and it has the help and disposition of the municipalities ”, he concluded.
