Outstanding presence of horticultural companies in the regional stand Mazarrón "Fruit Attraction 2016" (05/10/2016)

Vegetables and fruits produced in Mazarrón shone Wednesday at the opening of the fair "Fruit Attraction 2016" by the Minister of Agriculture, Isabel García Tejerina.

The Mazarron companies feature prominently in the stand of the Region of Murcia which has the theme "Murcia, garden of Europe" paper.

This has been shown for the first day with an active presence of local entrepreneurs.

They have shown the benefits of Mazarron products.

Alicia Jimenez, Mayor of Mazarrón, and Isabel Maria Lopez, Councillor for Agriculture of the City of Mazarrón, have been present in this important event which serves to project the sector.

Also the president of the Autonomous Community, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, who announced the upcoming presentation of the quality mark "Food of the Region of Murcia" will serve to promote international promotion of products of the Community, extolling its quality and excellence .

Increased exports and opening of the Chinese market

The fair "Fruit Attraction" celebrates its eighth edition in IFEMA Madrid with 40,000 net square meters of exhibition space.

The international trade fair for fruit and vegetable industry has the participation of over 1,200 exhibitors from 40 countries, and plans to bring together 55,000 professionals from 100 countries.

The stand of the region is 32 square meters (16 per cent), under the slogan 'Murcia, garden of Europe' to promote their products.

Recreate the traditional squares of supplies, as well as variety, quality and richness of its products, and shows those with Appellations of Origin (DO) and Protected Geographical Indicators (PGI), complementing the offer of Murcia fruit and vegetable sector.

The Chief Executive stressed that "we are the first Spanish province in exports of fruits and vegetables" and stressed that in a year "our exports in the agricultural sector have increased by over a hundred million euros", because in the first half of 2016 the volume of these exports was 1,537 million euros, while in the same period of 2015 was 1,438 million.

Opening the Chinese market will cause a significant increase in exports, consolidating that leadership globally.

In addition, Murcia is also reference in organic farming, because 27 percent of the acreage, about 77,000 hectares, is intended for the production of organic products.
