As usual and coinciding with the beginning of Lent, the church of San José de Puerto de Mazarrón hosted on Ash Wednesday the presentation of the poster and the programming of Holy Week in Puerto de Mazarrón.
The event was attended by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, who highlighted the evolution experienced by the Holy Week of Puerto de Mazarrón thanks to the dedication of his brother brothers.
In addition, the names of the proclaimer and Nazarene of the year were announced.
On Friday of Dolores (March 23), after the Holy Mass (7:00 pm), Francisca Ballesta Acosta, teacher of Primary Education in the municipality, will officiate the proclamation that will give way to the set of events scheduled until Easter Sunday.
Miguel Campo, a resident of Mazarrón and a member of the Brotherhood of San Pedro, will be named Nazareno of the Year.
San Pedro stars in the Holy Week of Puerto de Mazarrón in 2018. The Cofradía presented the poster based on a photograph of Tere López in which the throne of "El Arrepentimiento de San Pedro", released in procession two years ago, is collected.
The act was enlivened by the performance of María Dolores Díaz who played an arrow.
The procession calendar will begin on Palm Sunday (March 25) at 12:30 with the Procession of Ramos, which, as usual, will begin at the hermitage of San Antón del Barrio de San Isidro in the direction of the church of Saint Joseph.
Holy Thursday (March 29) at 9:30 p.m., Procession of Our Father Jesus Nazareno and Good Friday (April 14) at 9:30 p.m., Procession of Santo Entierro.
Abel Rosa, parish priest of San José, hosted a ceremony attended by the Councilor for Culture, Pedro Martinez, the Councilor for Agriculture and Fisheries, Isabel María López and the main management positions of the Cabildo de Cofradías de Puerto de Mazarrón, as well as the president of the Cabildo de Mazarrón.
