The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has decreed orange level warning for coastal phenomena for Saturday March 24 from 06:00 hours to 20:00 hours, with a probability of 40 to 70% by winds from west to northwest with maximum gusts of up to 90 km / h.

The City Emergency Plan has been ordered from the City Council in its pre-emergency phase.

Civil Protection recommends the following rules of prevention and self-protection in strong winds:

What can you do with the prediction or presence of strong winds?

It is important to be informed of the expected weather conditions and to be attentive to the indications that are given.

As a precaution against high-intensity winds, it is advisable to: • Close and secure doors, windows or awnings • Remove pots and all objects that may fall onto the street and cause an accident • If you are on the street or in the countryside : It is advisable to get away from cornices, walls or trees, which can become detached and take precautions in front of buildings under construction or in poor condition • Refrain from climbing scaffolding, without adequate protection measures • Before the prediction of gales it is necessary to try to avoid road trips and, if necessary, take special precautions for the possible presence of obstacles on the road.

In any case, be informed of the weather conditions of the area you are heading to. • Try to get away from the beach and other low places that may be affected by the high tides and waves that are usually generated by the intensity of strong winds • In these situations, the sea acquires extraordinary conditions and can drag you if you are in the proximity of the sea • Refrain from carrying out navigations and nautical activities that can endanger the lives of people.

Civil Protection, in collaboration with the National Institute of Meteorology, is responsible for informing citizens, through the media, of those meteorological phenomena that can lead to situations of risk.

It is very important to remain attentive to official information transmitted through radio stations and other media, and follow the indications given.
