Mazarrón leading regional hotel occupancy during the bridge of San Jose (22/03/2012)

Mazarron has led the regional hotel occupancy during the Bridge of San Jose, which ran from 16 to 19 March.

The accommodation in the municipality have been at 77 per cent capacity, which is the best data at the regional level and 8 points higher than those recorded in 2011.

This also means that Mazarrón also leads along the Mar Menor, the largest increases in hotel occupancy produced this year.

Mazarrón Specifically, the Mar Menor and Cartagena experienced the largest increases at 77, 74 and 40 percent respectively, since in the same period in 2011, the data were 69, 66 and 33 percent, according to the balance released yesterday by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

All other areas maintain an occupancy rate similar to last year.

The Mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, has expressed his satisfaction over the fact "because it shows that the efforts made by the City to convert to Mazarron in a prime tourist destination are paying off."

Ginés Campillo has also stressed that "this effort is directly affecting the local economy, since many establishments Mazarrón we have welcomed the improvement in the number of tourists who have visited the town during the month of March with the support and starting from the consistory of activities such as Fotogenio or Phicaria ".
