More than 300 athletes defy the wind during the Second Half Marathon "Mazarrón Bay" (04/02/2013)

Yesterday was held with great success in the Second Half Marathon participation "Mazarrón Bay", an event organized by the Club Deportivo "Mazarrón Bay" which has the support of the City.

Despite the wind that blew incersante during the day, more than 300 athletes braved the weather and participated in this sporting event which ran smoothly and without incident despite adverse weather conditions.

The overall winner of the competition was Matthew Pesquer, which ran just over 21 kilometers of the test consisting in a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes and 55 seconds.

In regard to the women, the winner of the test was obtained Stine Rajala Granerud that a time of 1 hour, 26 minutes and 53 seconds.

Note that the test runner was Mazarron Parra Maite Vera, once again proved their physical quality.

Maite Vera was therefore the best local brokerage and Juan Ramón González Aguera was the best local athlete male.

Once through the finish line, participants collected their trophies from the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, the Councillor for Sports, Andrew James, and the mayor of Celebration and Local Police, Isidro Coy.

The mayor wanted to thank the collaboration in testing Red Cross, Civil Protection and local police that, once again, have joined the celebration of sporting success for the municipality to ensure the safety of participants.

In regard to the various categories, Senior Men podium consisted Chumillas Gabriel, Emilio Peña and Miguel Rufino Saura.

In females, R. Stine

Granerud-champion-and-runner-Maite Vera, the Pilar accompanied Vilchez.

The podium Veterans "A" was the overall crowning as the three top finishers in this category were the first three athletes to cross the finish line.

They were Matthew Pesquer, Antonio Sanchez and Pedro Enrique Casalliglla.

Veterans in category "A" the first three to cross the finish line were Mar Gómez, María del Mar Alonso and Noelia Palazón were first, second and third respectively.

Also participating were several females in the Veterans category "B" being the top three ranking Victoria Machota, Consuelo Caparrós and Toni Jimenez.

On Veterans "B" consisted podium Luis Javier Camacho, Miguel Angel Carrasco and Jesus of Charity Navarro.

Finally in Veterans "C" the first three to arrive were Andrés García, José Manuel Cordova and Alan Pover.
