Mazarrón in the debate on the reform of the CAP (16/07/2013)

Councillor for Agriculture and Rural Development, Fisheries and Livestock, Magdalena Mendez, last week traveled to Madrid to represent the municipality of Mazarrón in the presentation of the Yearbook of Agriculture Family in Spain 2013, Awards of the Foundation for Rural and reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

The mayor participated in the meeting which also discussed the Family Agriculture in Spain under the new CAP.

The meeting was attended by Secretary General of Agriculture and Food of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Isabel García, Secretary General of the UGT, Candido Mendez, general secretary of UPA, Lorenzo Ramos, Secretary of Organization UPA, Mark Alarcon Agriculture counselors several regions among whom was the de Murcia, Antonio Cerdá, and mayor Mazarron itself.

It was the first debate among regional governments, central government and farmers on the new CAP, turning the event into a forum for exchange of views on land reform, which has just been approved in Brussels and national whose application must negotiated from now.

Magdalena Mendez explained the position of Mazarron farmers during the appointment, revealing what aspects to consider for a favorable defense of their commercial interests.

Among those recognized by the Foundation for Rural Studies were the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO), the "Onda Agraria", broadcast every Saturday on "Onda Cero" UGT State Federations and Aragonese singer Carmen Paris.

The meeting was attended by over 300 people from the political, social, academic, and economic union of the whole country.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, explained that "the departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Fisheries and Livestock primary aim to defend the interests of farmers, fishermen and Mazarrón winners against decisions that can be taken to European level, hence the mayor Mendez is in continual contact with the associations and organizations in this field. "

The mayor stressed that "work well for this sector remains a key economic pillar for our town."
