Inauguration of the street in honor of the Admiral Antonio Moreno Barberá (13/09/2014)

Admiral Antonio Moreno Barberá who for 50 years served in the Navy has a street named in Puerto de Mazarrón.

Moreno Barberá is born in Madrid but since childhood has been closely linked to our town by his family, in addition to our cost their usual rest.

Antonio Moreno Barberá for nearly four years was Chief of Staff of Defense, the fourth military authority of the country after the King, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense.

Moreno Barberá, who played much of his work in Cartagena, Mazarron showed his appreciation to the council for having dedicated a street name as well as the plaque commemorating the event.

The decision was taken in full by the municipal corporation on Friday and finally became effective in the presence of senior military officers also attended in Mazarrón to the awards ceremony of the National Sea Rescue League.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Garcia, was pleased for having finally paid the homage it deserves to Mazarron adoption as Antonio Moreno Barberá.

In the same vein the Deputy Mayor, Ginés Campillo, who also also emphasized the human qualities of the honoree was expressed.

The Mayor and First Lieutenant were joined at the event by other team members and local government councilors Civil Protection, Safety, Sports, Agriculture, Tourism and Local Development.

The street is named after Admiral Moreno Barberá is what makes entrance to the historic Hotel Bay of Puerto de Mazarrón.
