The Minister Thomas Violante is committed to maintaining services for people with intellectual disabilities in Mazarrón (07/09/2015)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, accompanied by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, visited centers Child Development and Early Care and Day Centre for people with intellectual disabilities in the municipality, where he praised the work They played by professionals who serve them.

In addition, Thomas Violante said that "there is a commitment to renew the City of Mazarrón the agreement signed with the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) and improve benefits offered today, so that next year can be increased the number of beneficiaries thereof. "

The Early Childhood Center serves 192 children receiving physical therapy, language stimulation, psicomotrocidad and family psychology.

Also, next to the heated pool of the Association of Parents of Persons with Intellectual Disability deMazarrón (ASPADEM) in which hydrotherapy is developed for children of the Early Intervention Centre is located, its use is shared with other services.

Thomas Violante explained, "the Ministry will continue collaborating with the various federations and associations of people with intellectual disabilities and their families so that we can continue to coordinate the needs and services they need."

The day center for people with intellectual disabilities has a capacity of 25 seats and he works to maintain and improve personal autonomy, the basic activities of daily life, learning routine and quality of life of these people.

Before visiting the centers, the minister held a working meeting with representatives of several NGOs in Mazarrón (Adima, Aspadem, Red Cross, Caritas, New Course, Making and Difference, German Ecumenical Church and Fitomur) to analyze the Decree Law 2/2015, of August 6, amending Law 3/2003 of 10 April Social Services System in the Region of Murcia, which will help to strengthen the rights of non-profit organizations in the provision of social services, through the development of management modes such as social concert or cooperation agreements.

"One of the most important developments of the Decree-Law is that we will sign cooperation agreements with all entities that provide services to the most disadvantaged, to meet social services in cases where for urgent reasons of uniqueness of the service, the provision, or innovative, advise the non application of the concert, "said Thomas Violante.

The new regional standard had input from members of the Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities and their Families Murcia (CERMI), the Network for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion in the Region of Murcia (EAPN) and Lares Murcia, Murcia representing the Association of Homes and Services for Elderly Care.

"In addition to supporting the Decree Law of the great platforms that are integrated organizations, we will continue to explain its content to all NGOs working locally, and with which we collaborate," explained the minister.

"The regional government has been very aware that the cornerstone of the Regional Social System rests on the necessary participation of citizens and organizations of social initiative," concluded Thomas Violante.
