The mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Councillor for Education, Concepción Ballesta, presented this morning the program "Library for All 'in the City Hall.
The event was also attended by the Project Coordinator of the Association Columbares Almagro Antonio Soto, and intercultural mediator Library Mazarrón, Mustafa Aynaou.
The main objective is to get the 'Biblioteca Municipal de Mazarrón' suits the needs of people for ethnic, linguistic and cultural area by promoting the integration and coexistence between them.
Another purpose is to promote public awareness preventing racism and xenophobia and to facilitate access for all citizens to local libraries as a meeting place and study.
For the development of this initiative, the town has a cultural mediator, Mustafa Aynaou, which is responsible for preparing material for these minorities, as well as readings in other languages, this will make a true cultural Mazarrón.
Francisco Blaya has assured the media that this is an ambitious project as it will enable the increase of culture for all and increasing the holdings in different languages.
Crossbow concept has stated that this new project will ensure the meeting point and information seeking among all citizens of the municipality.
This program, which enrolled nine municipalities of the Region, was created to promote multiculturalism and coexistence between the Network of Municipal Libraries.
Also, this project also covers different fields of activity such as conducting periodic newsletters with topics of interest to immigrants, the generation of bibliographic in native languages and the creation of learning resources in Spanish.
