A reading center for Cañada de Gallego (23/03/2010)

This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, accompanied by the Councillor for Education, Concepción Ballesta, the Councillor for Rural Development, Luisa María Heredia, Councillor for Education and Employment, Miguel Ballesta and the headman of Cañada de Gallego, Diego Miravete, have visited the Reading Center Cañada de Gallego.

This event also featured the director of the Public School San Antonio de Cañada de Gallego, José María Zapata, along with two teachers and a group of about forty pupils of the school.

The center, located in one of the districts with the highest town in the district, covers the 1,400 people living in the area.

Reading Center has about a thousand books of categories of children, youth and adults as well as other titles distributed in specific subjects like social sciences, biology, history, literature, etc.

Also, the center has three computers with users and users can perform work and connect to the Internet.

One of the claims of the Reading Center is to promote reading habit among the citizens, facilitating consultation and research through the constant renewal and the increase in titles.

Encourage rural development and bring services to municipalities are other objectives of the Consistory of Mazarrón.

The Reading Center Cañada de Gallego is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:30 to 20:30.

This educational initiative has received grants from the Autonomous Region of Murcia where the Consistory body works in unison to provide the highest quality services to citizens.
