This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Councillor for Sports, Francisco Antonio Raja, accompanied by a representative of Club Runtritón, Isidro Valdez, presented "The Tomato Race, a race on asphalt whose main characteristic is to be held through the streets of Mazarrón, with a distance of 5 miles (8045 meters).
The test will take place on Saturday 19 June at 19.30 pm leaving from the Plaza del Convento, will pass through the main streets of town and will be open to all those who wish, are federated or not, regardless of sex or nationality.
Sport, tourism and typical products of the earth are the three major themes of this innovative commitment as "The Tomato Race" in Spanish "Tomato Race."
The maximum time to cover the distance of the race is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
"The Tomato Race" award the first three riders in each category and the first three local runners in honor of the typical product of Mazarrón participants will receive a complimentary assortment of tomatoes, courtesy of companies in the municipality.
The Department of Sports, with the intention of awakening among all citizens sportsmanship, has devised this new career, which may involve all those who are at least 18 years.
