The Department of Historical Heritage of the City of Mazarrón celebrates the International Day of Museums with an agenda of activities that includes workshops to enjoy with family, music and a conference on the Phoenician past of the municipality.
Pedro Martinez, councilor of Historical Heritage, presented the activities on Tuesday during his visit to the first of the workshops that welcomes throughout this week the Roman Factory of Salazones de Puerto de Mazarrón.
It consists of five days of workshops, organized with the collaboration of the AMPAS of the schools of the municipality and in which, in a didactic way, students are introduced to the knowledge of History.
"Gladiators" and "The Hunters of Prehistory" is the name of the two workshops that take place every afternoon (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm) at the Factory and that are designed to be enjoyed by the family.
After a theoretical talk, the children complete the activity by developing materials and tools similar to those used in antiquity.
The workshop on Saturday 19 will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
One more year, the music does not miss its appointment with the Day of the Museums in Mazarrón and this time it will be the guitarist, of British origin, Austin Slarck who will offer a concert on the night of Saturday, May 19, starting at 22 : 00 hours
The Department of Historical Heritage extends this year its programming until Saturday May 26 (12:00 hours), day in which the Roman Factoria Museum will host the conference of Juan Pinedo entitled "Mazarrón Phoenician, training and research."
Pinedo is an underwater archaeologist and graduated in Prehistory and Archeology from the Autonomous University of Madrid.
He is a researcher and one of the directors of the prospections carried out in the area around the Island Beach by the University of Murcia through the Underwater Archeology Course that celebrated its third edition in 2017.
