The contest that is celebrating its XXXIV edition will count this year with Antonio Lucas as president of the jury.
Lucas is a journalist and writer and current president of the jury of the Princess of Asturias Awards.
The author of works such as "Lucernario" or "Las Máscaras" will give a lecture under the title "The poetry of the story" next Thursday July 26 (22:00 hours) in the same place of the awards ceremony.

The contest, organized by the Popular University and the Department of Culture of the City of Mazarrón, already shows publicly the name of its winners.
The first prize will be given to the writer Matías Miguel Clemente, a native of Albacete, who presented the story entitled "Elisabetta en la piedra".
The author who has won this year has a degree in Hispanic Philology and has been a professor in Italy for five years.
In 2003 he received the Young Poetry Award from Radio3 for his work "Lo que queda".
In addition, he has published several lyrical works.
The runner-up of the contest has fallen to the illustrator Leonard Carlos García Valverde, for his story "Listen to the wind".
