The illustrator Carlos García Valverde gets the second prize |
Mazarrón celebrated the delivery ceremony of the XXXIV Villa de Mazarrón Story Contest Antonio Segado del Olmo.
In it, the philologist and writer from Albacete Matías Miguel Clemente received the prize of the winner of this edition for the story entitled "Elisabetta en la piedra".
The author who has won this year has a degree in Hispanic Philology and has been a professor in Italy for five years.
In 2003 he received the Young Poetry Award from Radio3 for his work "Lo que queda".
In addition, he has published several lyrical works.
The winner of the 34th edition of the contest addressed some words of thanks to those present.
Also, the León illustrator Carlos García Valverde received the runner-up of the contest for his story "Listen to the wind".
During the ceremony, which was attended by the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Juan Antonio Lorca, Mayor Alicia Jiménez highlighted the evolution of a contest that has projected the name of Mazarrón nationally and internationally.
After the event, held at the hotel Alegría Dos Playas, he already had the traditional photocall with the guests.
1,128 works, mainly from Latin America
The Villa de Mazarrón Story Contest, organized by the Popular University and the Department of Culture of the City of Mazarrón, has seen its participation triple in the last ten years.
For this edition, convened in October, 1,128 works have been submitted, mainly from Latin American countries.
This year's jury had the presence, as president, of the writer and journalist Antonio Lucas, current president of the jury of the Princess of Asturias Awards in the modality of Letters.
