The music band of the Musical Association 'Maestro Eugenio Calderón', under the direction of Mr. Alejandro Castañeda Martínez, offered on Sunday, July 29, the third and last concert of the Veranos Musicales cycle 'Villa de Mazarrón' 2018, which this year has counted with the participation of the music band of the Musical Group 'Villa de Fuente Álamo' and the youth band of the Jumillana Association of Friends of Music.
In the incomparable setting of Puerto de Mazarrón Marina and before more than four hundred people, the host music band began the first part of the concert with the pasodoble 'La concha flamenca', one of the most famous and singular works of the composer Perfecto Artola Prats.
He continued with 'Romeo and Juliet', by the composer Prokofieff, with arrangements by Johan de Meij, one of the most appreciated works of this composer, of great rhythmic variety.
The music of 'Romeo and Juliet' of Prokofieff moved the audience to the center of the struggles between Montagues and Capulets, making him understand the forbidden love between the two most famous lovers in history.
He closed the first part of the concert 'Around the world in 80 days' by Otto M. Schwarz, a work based on the famous novel by Jules Verne published in 1873, which tells the story of English Phileas Fogg who agrees to turn around to the world in 80 days after a bet with his friends.
The piece was accompanied by a short narrative that illustrated the stages of that fascinating journey.
During the brief pause the public was informed about the bands of music in the Region of Murcia, forty of them federated, as well as the historical demand of the Federation of Music Bands and all the musical groups of Murcia, of a law of the autonomic music that protects its music schools and guarantees its operation.
The second part of the concert was totally different from the first, being entirely dedicated to famous movie themes.
It began with a selection of romantic comedy themes, released between 1978 and 1990, which have become classics of the Dirty Danding-Pretty Woman-Flashdance-Grease cinema.
He then offered a selection of unforgettable musicals, which remain in force even though they were premiered, one in 1952 and the others in the mid-60s: Singing in the Rain-Smiles and Tears-Mary Poppins.
In third place we could listen to a selection of the soundtracks of emblematic films like James Bond-Chicago-Cabaret -Moulin Rouge.
Finally, a selection of the soundtrack of the American musical dramatic film of 1961, West Side Story, inspired by the love story of Romeo and Juliet and Jesus Christ Superstar, rock opera of the 70s, which tells the last seven days of Jesus Christ.
Throughout the concert, more and more people gathered, who did not resist dancing and humming these soundtracks.
As a culmination to the present edition of the Musical Summers, the music band of the Musical Association 'Maestro Eugenio Calderón' of Mazarrón said goodbye with the pasodoble 'La Virgen de la Macarena', with D. Alejandro Castañeda Martínez as trumpet soloist and D Juan José Miñarro Alcázar as director.
The masterful interpretation of the impressive and overwhelming trumpet solo of D. Alejandro Castañeda put the audience on their feet in a prolonged and enthusiastic applause, perfect closing for the sixth edition of the Musical Summers 2018.
The Veranos Musicales 'Villa de Mazarrón' have consolidated, becoming the unavoidable summer musical event.
This cycle of concerts has been celebrated uninterrupted since 2013, offering each summer three or four concerts of music bands in Puerto de Mazarron.
Throughout these six years 13 different music bands have participated, in addition to the host band, the music band of the Musical Association 'Maestro Eugenio Calderón' of Mazarrón, who performs each summer with the bands of music invited by her .
All the bands collaborate in a disinterested way, by virtue of exchange agreements with the Mazarrón music band, with the sole purpose of promoting the musical culture.
