The Secretary of Organization of IU-Greens Region of Murcia, Victoria Celdrán, harshly criticized the decision of the government team of the City of Mazarrón to "reward" their local police to fine manteros.
Thus, Celdrán has asserted that the problem of street vending, the regulation of street markets and the troubles of local commerce can not be solved by "hunting" and pursuing the weakest link.
The Municipality of Mazarrón demonstrates its inability to meet the needs of the population by launching a local motivational measure to hunt a specific sector of the population instead of developing policies that contribute to the development of local commerce, promoting spaces of coexistence, manage sustainable tourism and provide resources to local police.
"From Izquierda Unida we feel ashamed of a person who has the responsibility of managing the welfare of the population of a municipality, violates the rights of both the police criminalizing their protective action and applying xenophobic measures."
