Antonio Ballesta Albolea received the Mayor of the Year award during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Mazarrón Senior Day Center.
Ballesta is a retired teacher, born in Puerto de Mazarron in 1952. In his professional career he received several awards, highlighting the National Prize for Experimentation, granted by the Ministry of Education and Science, for the integration of new audiovisual technologies in education.
In addition, he also received the Luis María Sobredo Award for his collaboration in the promotion of extracurricular sports, recreational and cultural activities.
Ballesta trained the handball team of CP Francisco Caparrós de Mazarrón, who was proclaimed provincial champion in 1976.
Today the Mayor of the Year 2018 is active in the social and cultural life of the municipality, collaborating altruistically in different activities.
He was the preacher of Holy Week in Puerto de Mazarrón in 2003, he is a founding member of the poetry and singing group 'Clavia' and of the Manuel Massotti Littel choir of Mazarrón.
All these merits led him to be recognized last Friday during the 10th anniversary of the Day Center. The mayor, Alicia Jiménez, together with the Councilor for Social Policy, Laura Ortiz, was in charge of granting her the Major Prize of the Year for a day festive and convivial for a center that offers this year more than twenty workshops of municipal management and other positions underway with the La Caixa Foundation.
