The beaches of Bolnuevo, Castellar, Alamillo and Isla Plana hosted last Saturday the XIV Bahia de Mazarron National Fishing Open with the participation of 135 fishermen from different parts of the Spanish geography.
The Bahía de Mazarrón National Fishing Open is considered the largest held in our country in the male senior category.
The participants enjoyed a calm sea for sports during a night that culminated with the expected awards ceremony that was attended by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez and the Councilor for Sports, Patricio Sánchez.
Pedro José Navarro, from the Todomar Club in Elche managed to win the first prize, followed by Daniel Pinar from Club Dimar in Alicante and Mariano Olmos from Club Marlin de Murcia.
The latter was precisely who managed to capture more weight with a sea bass of 998 grams.
The largest number of pieces was carried out by Daniel Mendoza of Club El Barbo de Murcia.
The competition lasted four and among the captured species highlighted salps, obladas, pajeles, raspallones, seabass and blacksmiths.
The Fishing Club of Puerto de Mazarrón, on the occasion of its XX anniversary, offered a recognition to Pedro Zamora, first president of the club.
