Promotion gives to the City Council the House of the Sea to stimulate the cultural and social activity of the town
The Community has begun the remodeling of the RM-332 highway (Cartagena-Mazarrón), on its way through the Alamillo beach in Mazarrón, to modify its layout, which will improve road safety and provide more services to the Beach.
The action consists in modifying the route of the road in a section of 500 meters, which will improve its design and circulation in order to increase the safety of both drivers and residents and visitors who travel this tourist area.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, and the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, visited today the works that are fundamental to improve communications and expand the services of the beach.
The regional government invests 185,000 euros in these works, which will be carried out over the next four months.
"This regional investment will generate wealth in the municipality because it improves communications and increases the potential of its coast," said the counselor who called on the Government of Spain "to accelerate all procedures that allow combining this action with the construction of the promenade in the space that is free with the modification of the layout of the road ".
Valverde said that the work carried out by his department makes it possible for the State to build a seafront and a bike path in front of the Alamillo beach, and thus give continuity to the Rihuete promenade and interconnect with the future viewpoint of Punta del Alamillo. Value this natural place and promote tourism in the area.
According to the project of the Demarcation of Coasts, the walk would have a length of 1.2 kilometers and a width that will oscillate between 8 and 9 meters.
The state budget for its construction amounts to 2.9 million euros and a deadline of nine months.

Public officials also visited the Casa del Mar, recently ceded by the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure to the City of Mazarrón, within the framework of the policy developed by the regional government to "open ports to society."
Patricio Valverde stressed that port infrastructures are engines for generating economic activity and employment, and the reason for the cession of this space is to stimulate the cultural and social activity of the town.
"We opened the ports to society, we integrated them into the city and extracted their potential for tourist, social and cultural attractions," said the councilor, who said that these facilities will promote the Port of Mazarrón with the celebration of cultural, maritime activities. fisheries, scientific and training related to fisheries and aquaculture.
This building will also house meetings, training events and conferences of the Social Institute of the Navy, the Fishermen's Association, local groups and associations and the International University of the Sea, among other institutions.
