The purse-seine vessels of Puerto de Mazarrón began the biological strike on December 6th, with which the Comprehensive Mediterranean Management Plan is fulfilled and which will affect species such as mackerel, sardine or jack mackerel.
This stoppage will last until January 6 and has a subsidy of 62,000 euros that will go to 17 boats.
This was stated by the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor during his visit to the fishing dock of Mazarrón.
Del Amor has checked with the Councilor for Fishing of the Municipality of Mazarrón, Isabel María López, how the fishermen of Puerto de Mazarrón take advantage of this moment of unemployment to carry out the maintenance tasks on their boats.
Isabel María López stressed the speed with which the aid is managed by the Autonomous Community, allowing "to be up to date in the aid" as indicated.
For this year have been allocated in the Region of Murcia subsidies worth 132,000 euros.
Last May, subsidies for trawl fishing were managed.
50% of the aid comes from the European Maritime Fisheries Funds and the other 50% from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
After visiting the facilities of the pier and the fish market of Puerto de Mazarrón, Del Amor and Isabel María López, together with the Senior Employer, Manuel Sánchez, have held a meeting with representatives of other fishermen's associations of the Region of Murcia with the Mazarron Manuel Crossbow in front of them.
