The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, has attended the inauguration of the Juan de la Cierva International Airport, which was presided over by King Felipe VI.
The new airport shortens distances with the municipality of Mazarrón, being located 40 minutes by car from the urban center and 25 minutes from Camposol.
It is precisely British residents of this urbanization of Mazarrón who were some of the first travelers to arrive in Corvera on the first flight that landed from the East Midlands airport.
For Alicia Jiménez "it is an infrastructure that will help boost and develop the municipality, bringing new international destinations."
The mayor has indicated that it is expected that in April start a bus line that will connect Mazarrón with the airport.
The new international airport links from Tuesday to the Region of Murcia with 12 destinations in three countries of the European Union (United Kingdom, Belgium and Ireland), increasing the number of destinations in Spain and Europe in the second quarter of the year.
