One of the new assistance services is CAVAX, aimed at women victims of sexual harassment or abuse |

At its last meeting, the Local Coordination Table on gender violence in which it again focused on prevention and awareness as measures to tackle this social scourge.

In this new meeting we proceeded to read and sign the minutes of the previous table held on November 28, a case study was presented and news was shared regarding the actions in gender violence, summary of the activities that were they made on the occasion of the 25N in educational centers, in addition to suggestions and contributions.

The Local Coordination Table is represented by the Department of Social Policy and Equality, technicians of the council, CAVI technicians, technician of the area of ​​Youth, health services, Civil Guard, Local Police, municipal resources related to employment and training (SEF , SEPE and CIME), early childhood and primary education centers, secondary education centers and the Red Cross.

In 2018, 55 new cases of gender violence were registered in the CAVI de Mazarrón office.

Of these, in 31 cases, physical abuse has been reported and in 21 complaints have been lodged, with 11 cases of protection orders.

36 of the new cases correspond to women of Spanish nationality, being the rest of other nationalities diverse.

Currently there are 63 women in Mazarrón with a protection order.

Its follow-up is coordinated with the Civil Guard.

Five children have been referred to the Psychological Care Service for Minors (SAPMEX) and to another 5 mothers for psychological counseling.

New service for victims of sexual harassment

Through the General Directorate of Women, the City of Mazarrón offers a new service that is provided from the Center for Attention to Women Victims of Sexual Abuse and Harassment (CAVAX).

This new service is provided from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with the telephone number 968221900, in addition to the 112.
