The Head of the Municipal Emergency Service (SEM) of Mazarrón, Pedro Hernández, received the Medal of Merit for Civil Protection after more than three decades of public service.
The event took place in the Government Delegation in Murcia and was attended by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez.
Pedro Hernández was decorated by the government delegate, Diego Conesa, along with those responsible for the units of San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares.
The Municipal Emergency Services began their journey since the mid-1980s in the Region of Murcia with the aim of reinforcing security in events and emergencies of special characteristics.
The medals awarded, according to the Order of the Ministry of the Interior of April 13, 1982, are granted to those persons who stand out for their activities in the protection of persons and goods that could be affected by emergency situations in cases of serious risk, catastrophe or public calamity, through the performance of singular acts that imply notorious risk or exceptional solidarity.
