The Ministry of Health has extended the radiology service of the Mazarrón Health Center so that it can also offer appointments in the afternoon.

For this, a Radiology technician has been hired, who will provide support to the technician who already has the center.

The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, made this announcement today in his visit to the Health Center of Mazarrón, next to the mayor of the municipality, Alicia Jiménez.

With these new hires "we give a new impetus to this health center, the only one within the health area of ​​Cartagena that offers radiology service, with the reinforcement of its portfolio of services and we avoid that the inhabitants of the municipality have to travel to Cartagena to perform these tests, "Villegas explained.

During the past year, this service offered a total of 7,436 appointments.

For its part, the mayor, Alicia Jimenez, said that "has also requested that this extension service is also connected with a trauma traumatologist in Murcia," as indicated Jiménez during the visit that has also had the presence of the Councilor for Health, Marisol Vivancos.

Another measure that the Ministry has implemented in this health center to facilitate accessibility and avoid displacement of the inhabitants of the municipality of Mazarrón have been the development of telemedicine in the specialties of dermatology, cardiology, gynecology and obstetrics.

Community School Health Care Program

This health center also has two nurses belonging to the School Community Health Care Program (Paces) of the Region of Murcia.

These professionals pay attention to children with chronic ailments in all schools in the municipality to encourage their schooling.

This initiative is carried out through coordination between health and education centers and responds to health needs in the educational field, both with the attention to children with specific needs and the promotion of healthy habits among children.

The municipality of Mazarrón has two basic health areas, the Mazarrón area and the Puerto de Mazarrón area, which serve 29,590 users.
