Alicia Jiménez, Mayor of Mazarrón attended Thursday the presentation of the last book by local historian Juan Francisco Belmar who has brought to light a new ethnographic study dedicated to the districts of Garrobo and Saladillo.
This work is added to those already presented on Leiva or Los Rincones.
On this occasion, Belmar has faced a laborious process of collection and documentation due to the depopulation experienced by these two districts.
Finally, 150 photographs and a valuable historical contribution are shown that show the history and ways of life of both populations.
The book shows interesting details that focus on the Palaeolithic sites and previous to the Romanization of Garrobo and Saladillo, respectively, as well as the water pipes of great utility for the municipality that started from Garrobo, the development of the yeseras, also in this district or the El Saladillo hot spring.
The presentation, held in the exhibition hall of the Popular University of the Avenida de la Constitución, was attended by the Councilor for Culture, Pedro Martinez and the mayor pedro of Garrobo, José David Pérez.
The publication can be purchased in the office of the Popular University, in the Cultural Center of Mazarrón.
