In the IX General Assembly of the Organization the objectives and main lines of work for the period 2019-2023 were approved and Javier Senent was re-elected national president of the Humanitarian Institution
The General Assembly of the Red Cross, which has been closed this Sunday in Madrid, has re-elected as president of the Red Cross, for the second consecutive term, Javier Senent García (Guadalajara, 1948).
Volunteer of the Organization for 47 years, Javier Senent has held numerous responsibilities in different areas of activity and at all territorial levels of the Red Cross.
During this last period, the Red Cross has carried out its commitment to strengthen the work of the Organization to support the people who need it, adapting the projects and activity to the new times and realities suffered by the collectives with whom we work.
Special attention has been paid to the loneliness of the elderly, the search for opportunities for children and youth, respect and care for the environment, health promotion and the eradication of gender violence.
During the Assembly, the framework document was approved with the objectives to be achieved during the 2019-2023 period.
This includes the lines of work to be developed to boost their social and humanitarian work.
Over the next four years, the Red Cross proposes itself as strategic lines: respond to the evolution of situations of vulnerability in society, place people at the center of their intervention, mobilize society in the fight against vulnerability and increase their capacities to carry out an effective intervention.
These strategies show the commitment of the Red Cross in the intervention with the most vulnerable people and in the defense of their rights, as well as with the general population to which they offer, in different areas, a network of support and prevention, in topics such as health, training and education, care in emergencies and emergencies and the defense of the environment, among others.
The activity of the Organization during 2018 reached nearly four million people in the national territory and more than six million in the international arena.
All this is possible thanks to the support and commitment of more than 200,000 volunteers and 1,350,000 people.
This IX General Assembly culminates the electoral process that takes place every four years with the participation of volunteers and Red Cross members.
The 350 members from all over the country have also elected the members of the National Committee, the highest management body, as well as the people who will form the Finance and Rights and Duties Guarantees Committees.
Carmen Navarro, current president of the Spanish Red Cross in the municipality of Mazarrón and a reference for the Immediate Response Team in Psychosocial Care Emergencies, has been elected as a member of the national committee.
The delegation of the Spanish Red Cross in the Region of Murcia was headed by its president, Faustino Herrero.
