The management of the public mercantile leaves behind the deficit of 2015 and invests in the improvement of the service with more staff in summer and since last March with a new contract to reinforce, throughout the year, cleaning throughout the municipality
Bahía de Mazarrón has given an account of its economic management during the last years.
The public merchant managed to clean up its accounts leaving behind the deficit close to 730,000 euros in 2015 to update their numbers with a current surplus of more than 630,000 euros.
The status of these accounts has been communicated by the acting mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, who in turn is president of the public company.
Alicia Jiménez stressed that the management has allowed investment in improving the service by expanding staff in the summer months and since last March with the launch of a new contract that reinforces cleaning throughout the municipality to throughout the year for which 22 new workers were hired.
According to Alicia Jiménez, accompanied by the acting councilor of Services, Domingo Hernández and the manager of Bahia de Mazarrón, Juan José Pérez, the reduction of the liabilities in the accounts of Bahia has allowed the timely collection of payroll of their workers, as well as the reduction of 99 days to 19 days of the period of collection of suppliers.
New roofed vehicle park and own workshop
Domingo Hernández, acting councilor of Services, has detailed some of the most important actions carried out by the company during the last years.
One of them was the transfer of the facilities of the vehicle park to a covered place, thus complying with the environmental regulations and reinforcing the efficiency of the vehicles that were no longer exposed to the sun.
The provision of a workshop, the construction of an industrial laundry were other achievements.
More pruning containers and new cleaning vehicles
The number of pruning containers was also extended from 7 to 32, placing 11 of them in Camposol, El Alamillo and La Rusticana.
4 new sweepers were acquired, 150 rear cargo containers were renovated in Mazarrón and districts, 60 new containers of paper and cardboard and 50 of light containers were acquired.
It was equipped with 75 new containers for the fraction of the lateral load and 40 new glass collection points were installed.
Also, it was possible to acquire a container ship, two vehicles with an open box for collecting household items, a vehicle workshop and the adaptation of another vehicle in disuse to convert it into another washout for areas of difficult access
New cleaning contract
The new cleaning contract signed last March, of biannual nature and extendable for another two years, involved the hiring of 22 workers, 3 sweepers, 2 open-box trucks, 1 wash truck and 1 octopus truck for the collection of pruning
Increase in recycling
Juan José Pérez, manager of Bahía de Mazarrón, has highlighted the results accumulated in Mazarrón in relation to the selective collection of paper, cardboard and packaging.
At the end of 2015, 200,000 kilos of lightweight containers were collected, while at the end of 2018 the collection was more than 365,000 kilos, with the municipality achieving the same rate as the regional average of 11.8 kg / inhabitant.
In the collection of paper and cardboard, Mazarrón exceeds the regional average with 14.3 kg / inhabitant compared to 12.3 in Murcia, occupying the fourth place in 45 municipalities.
Also, in the selective collection was achieved in 2017 the Ecoembes Prize to the municipality that increased its collection rate more.
The growth has been of 6.24 kg / inhabitant in 2015 to 11.8 kg / inhabitant in 2018.
These data, according to Juan José Pérez, are mainly produced by citizen collaboration and after the implementation of selective collection on beaches and municipal markets, the completion of the containerization study prepared by Ecoembes for Mazarrón and Puerto through the installation of 75 new points of selective collection and 60 of light packaging.
In addition, 30 containers of 80 liters of lightweight packaging have been provided to beach campsites and beach bars throughout the month of June.
