This morning, the 'Plastics 0%' campaign organized by the Chelonia and Natural Spaces Association of the Region of Murcia was carried out within the 'Circular Seas' project financed by the Coca-Cola company and with the participation of the City Council of Mazarron
The councilors, José María Moreno and Francisco José García, the head of the Mediterranean of Chelonia, Cesar Pérez, and the president of the Red Cross Mazarrón, Carmen Navarro, have presented the appointment to the media.
The activity has a part of training, with a previous talk that has been given in the dependencies of the Nautical Club of Mazarrón, and another more active part in which the participants have collected 25 kilos of plastic from the beaches of Mazarrón.
A figure that, according to the organizer itself, is not a very high figure because, as they have moved to the consistory, the Mazarroneras beaches are in very good condition and very well maintained.
The Councilor for Citizen Participation, José María Moreno, has stressed the importance of "youth being the most aware in this regard, as it is the society of these coming years" and recalled recent studies indicating that "human beings we also consume plastic when eating fish, because these animals have previously consumed the plastic that has reached the sea through human action. "
For his part, Cesar Pérez explained that the idea of ​​the 'Circular Seas' project "is not only the dissemination and cleaning of beaches, 105 of which we are going to clean in Spain and Portugal, but also that we are going to clean the marine reserves" .
Specifically, Pérez has clarified that "we will act in all state marine reserves and 10 of those that are autonomous, so we are closing one to clean here in Murcia possibly in October."
The Councilor for Health and Sports, Francisco José García, has invited the Chelonia association "to also carry out this type of talks in winter, going to schools, for which they will have all our support and that they are also aimed not only at children but to the population in general "and has highlighted" the part of the project that affects the seabed because there are many divers who tell us that there are some areas where this type of material accumulates. "
