The City Council improves the lighting service and police presence in Camposol (20/08/2019)

Camposol residents continue to witness a slow but continuous improvement in the provision of basic services, such as street lighting and road repair.

According to Camposol City Councilwoman Silvana Buxton, "for many residents, things don't happen fast enough."

On the absence of light in some areas, a visit will be held in September to study lighting deficiencies on the one hand.

And on the other a subsequent meeting with the neighbors to explain the specific situations that occur in some sectors, since sometimes they are private areas and others in which the service has not been provided conveniently since the origins of urbanization.

“The provision or lack of street lighting in Camposol has a long and complex history, and despite the incredible efforts made by electricians, many roads still cannot benefit from the immediate repair of their street lamps.

The problem is being addressed and the patience of the affected residents is greatly appreciated, â€added Buxton.

Progress is also evident in the much-needed police presence around the urbanization that has increased these days which “has produced positive results.

The message that is reaching the criminal community is that Camposol is no longer a city without law or a paradise for illegal occupants, â€said the councilor for Camposol.

"The rapid response of the police on several occasions has been praised by many residents, and their presence is greatly appreciated," he added.

Residents are advised that, if they face criminal activity, call 112, which is a multilingual call center.

The call is automatically passed to the nearest Unit (Police, Civil Guard, Ambulance, Firefighters, etc.) to get the fastest possible response.

However, if residents later discover that a crime has been committed, it is essential that they go with an interpreter (if necessary) to the Civil Guard in Puerto de Mazarrón, carry their passport and NIE document, and file a complaint ( known as crime report).

The officer will complete the report that will reflect the information provided, and a copy will be given to the complainant.

“The importance of reporting any crime is essential, since police officers and the Civil Guard are calculated, as well as patrol routes, as with any police activity, in accordance with and in response to the crimes reported,†explained Buxton.

It is impossible for the Chiefs of Police and Civil Guard to go to their superiors asking for more troops if the true number of crimes is not known or if they are not reported to the corresponding authorities â€.

On the other hand, on Saturday, August 17, the councilor of Camposol and International Relations, Silvana Buxton, had the privilege of meeting with the consul for Ecuador in Murcia, Daniel Peñaranda, and his team, during his visit to Mazarrón.

"The meetings with officials of other consulates belonging to various foreign communities in the municipality are planned for the future" Buxton has revealed, explaining that "the mayor, Gaspar Miras, has periodic meetings with me and is working on several other issues that concern to Camposol. "
