According to the agreement reached between the Ministry of Culture and the Government of the Region of Murcia, two experts from the National Museum of Underwater Archeology ARQVA, Juan Luis Sierra and Rocío Castillo, will participate tomorrow in the immersion to the Mazarrón II wreck to study the conservation status of the structure that protects it.
Both have worked on previous campaigns on this wreck.
Juan Luis Sierra worked in the period from 1993 to 2000 on this sunken Phoenician ship and was responsible for the success of the treatment of the Mazarrón I wreck, exhibited at the ARQVA Museum since its inauguration, in 2008.
Rocío Castillo, an underwater archeologist with more than 30 years of experience, participated in the 2008 campaign in this same ship.
These two experts have worked in most of the national and international campaigns organized by the National Museum, projects directed by the doctor in Archeology and current director, Iván Negueruela since 1993, the most recent campaign being the one in Mexico this same year.
