This weekend the beach of La Reya (Bahia Grande) will be the scene of the 9th Edition of Surfito organized by the Surf Club Sports Club with the collaboration of the Department of Sports.
The councilor of the area, Francisco José García, and the president of the aforementioned club, José María Cascales, were in charge of presenting the event that this year has a marked inclusive character.
As Cascales explained "it is an event that we have been doing for a long time and it is taking a lot of strength."
The president of Bahía Surf added that "we are very happy because it is a meeting that has more and more participation" highlighting "the increase in the presence of women, something that our club has been betting on."
Among the novelties of this year, the event introduces surfing adapted for people suffering from some type of disability and "although there are few registrations, we are very happy and very satisfied to be able to host them this year," said José María Cascales.
In both male and female categories, they will compete in Sub12, Sub 16, Sub 18 and Open categories.
Cascales thanked "the City Council and the new Government Team for continuing to bet on this type of sports that seem minority but that over time are gaining adapted, as with the surf that will be Olympic sport in Tokyo 2020" and encouraged the People approaching La Reya beach "to enjoy the surfing atmosphere with participants arriving from Catalonia, Valencian Community and Almeria".
In this regard, the Councilor for Sports also expressed that in addition to encouraging families to go as a public to the beach of La Reya, he recalled that "this weekend we have a very complete sports agenda, with the Spanish Cup of cycling adapted in Camposol on Saturday morning and the Surfito edition with competition on Saturday throughout the day and Sunday morning, as well as the march of the AECC also on Sunday morning. "
