This week the project of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) called 'Snake Game' has started in the municipality of Mazarrón.
It is a European campaign for the access of primary school students to schools in a safe and sustainable way.
The Local Police has been in charge of the accompaniment of schoolchildren to the CEIP 'Ginés García', which has been the first school to adhere to this project forally, from 2 meeting points such as the Plaza del Convento and Miguel Ángel's garden White.
Through this initiative, as reported by the Department of Road Safety of the Local Police, it is intended to promote healthy living habits in children, while reducing the mass urban use of vehicles, thus reducing emissions from CO2 and contributing to the protection of the Environment.
The action consists in avoiding the daily and massive displacement of vehicles at the doors of schools, by creating the so-called 'meeting points'.
These serve to initiate in a safe and sustainable way the walking walking of the participants to the schools.
From the Local Police, the most agile and safe itineraries have been sought, avoiding architectural barriers along the way and existing projects that improve accessibility on sidewalks and crossings of streets and roads of the municipality.
During the first two weeks of this initiative, the centers that will start it up will have the permanent collaboration of the Local Police and, specifically in this case, agents of the recently retired body that are the ones that will accompany to schoolchildren from the meeting point to the school at the time of entry and at 2 pm departure from the school to the meeting point.
The City Council of Mazarrón and the Local Police will continue to provide information to educational centers, AMPAS and schoolchildren and their families about this project and the forms of execution that will be carried out in the different schools of the municipality.
