The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, renewed last Saturday the vote of the Villa de Mazarrón to La Purísima Concepción as the perpetual patron of the municipality.
The reading took place during a mass that was presided by the vicar of Evangelization and pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption of Molina de Segura, José León, who was accompanied by the priest and the parish vicar of the parish of San Andrés y San Antonio de Padua, Antonio José Martínez and David Álvarez de la Campa.
This year's La Purísima vote said:
Blessed Lady:
Today we fulfill our most sacred tradition, the people of Mazarrón renew their trust in you, Mother of God and all the mazarroneros.
A tradition that we inherit from our ancestors as our greatest hallmark, and that we relive each year in the hope that our Faith will guide our steps and illuminate our path.
Today I have the honor of renewing the Voto de la Villa as Mayor of Mazarrón for the first time.
With great emotion I fulfill your image with the responsibility that the people have given me, to ask for your children and send their message of love and devotion.
Today his Shrine is filled again with enthusiasm and joy, which at this time fills our hearts with the memory of what was the most important day in the history of our Villa.
That day will remain forever indelible in the memory of the mazarroneros, and it will remain year after year a cause for celebration, when Our Mother, with great generosity and as a sign of her infinite love for her children, freed us with her light of darkness.
Since then we remember that Miracle, as our ancestors so agreed, so that "in memory of such a great mercy", we will celebrate the 17th of the coming November.
Over the centuries Mazarrón has continued to venerate Our Lady of the Conception, entrusting ourselves to her for our loved ones, for the most needy, for all our brothers and sisters so that their light will always accompany them on their way.
In the past, generations of men and women like us have come here to ask for help from heaven, the Virgin, to ask for protection against the dangers of the sea, against disease and against death.
To ask for protection against the danger of the forces of nature.
Today we ask in addition to all the above, so that never the strength and will of the people who hold public office in our town, falter as regards the defense of the rights of the people.
We want to ask from this sacred place to fight for the authenticity, the truth, the discernment of what are behaviors without authenticity.
This effort will produce understandings and unite us better than anything else.
That there is no confusion in the languages, that there is clarity and authenticity and the union and cooperation will be given in addition.
Our Lady listens to us and intercedes for us, helps us and takes care of us, and continues to work the Miracle of Faith. And she does it for all the children of Mazarrón, who with their diversity enrich and enhance our identity.
Today I beg you, Madam, to ensure peace and harmony, that fraternity takes precedence over hostility, that love is before hate, that tolerance is the virtue that guides our lives, that charity and goodness Who taught us always be with us.
And I end, Blessed Lady, raising this prayer of Pope Francis to the Immaculate, so that his children may intercede for us:
Mother, let us never lose our way in this world: may the light of faith illuminate our lives, may the comforting force of hope direct our steps, may the enthusiastic ardor of love inflame our hearts, may our eyes be fixed on the Lord. , source of true joy.
At the end, the mayor agreed to the dressing room of the Virgin where he handed the baton to the patron.
Once the job was finished, the image of the Purisima that is venerated in the hermitage of Bolnuevo went out in procession through the streets of Mazarrón visiting the church of San Antonio to finally reach that of San Andrés, from where he left in pilgrimage in the morning next.
In addition, that same afternoon the employer was venerated with an offering of flowers and food that Caritas Parroquial will distribute among the needy.
Courtship, as usual, departed from the nursing home to its Sanctuary.
The councilor of Festejos, Miguel Ángel Peña, and the second deputy mayor, Plácida Gómez, were in charge of making this offering by the City Council of Mazarrón, together with the Archicofradía de La Purísima, the brotherhoods of Holy Week in Mazarrón and Puerto and the delegation of the Hospitality of Our Lady of Lourdes in the municipality.
An act that ended with the blessing and delivery of the oil of the lamp of the Virgin among the faithful assistants.
