In 1594, Pope Gregory XIII canonized Cecilia de Roma and turned his name into a symbol of music.
November 22 is celebrated since then the day of Santa Cecilia, patron of music and poets, as well as different Spanish and Latin American municipalities.
The music bands celebrate this holiday as the day of the musicians, programming special concerts in addition to recreational activities for their musicians.
The Musical Association 'Maestro Eugenio Calderón' this year will perform two concerts to honor his patron, one of the band of adult learners of the School of Music and another of the Band of Music of the Association.
The first concert, aimed at babies, will take place on Sunday, November 24 at noon at the Mazarrón Cultural Center.
The baby concert will be carried out by the adult band and will be an interactive concert where the little ones accompanied by their parents and moms will participate with movements or accompaniment of small percussion in the different musical pieces.
On Sunday, December 1, at half past nine at night, in the tent of the festivities, the titular Music Band will offer a concert of Symphonic Tributes, performing with the singers Miguel Ángel Miras and Irene Tudela, different songs by renowned Spanish and international artists such as Alaska, Nino Bravo or Frank Sinatra among many others.
During the concert, new musicians who join the Band will be welcomed this year.
