The mazarronera artist Isabel Guillermo gave yesterday began to the patron saint festivities of Mazarrón, which are celebrated in honor of La Purísima Concepción, with a "small" great proclamation "of story" in which the memories and appointments to her family were not lacking, at group of plastic arts 'Almagra' with whose artistic partners he has shared so many experiences, and to friends and neighbors, many of whom dressed last night at the preacher at the opening ceremony of the festivities.
And it was a "small" proclamation because Guillermo expressed his feeling by saying that "I feel small before you, because you are the ones who do and give strength and honor to this people."
But, carried by that same force, he grew great as he advanced in his words.
And that was how he enjoyed a great "fairy tale", and very original, because in addition to giving it a title, 'The little one and the dream here' he called it - "I don't know if the proclamations usually have a title like stories or the novels. I could not resist the temptation to do so "- he declared;
The artist linked two parts of her speech with music that was performed on the piano by Luis Aguilera of the 'Maestro Eugenio Calderón' Association, which shone yesterday with the musical performances that complemented the act.
But it was also a proclamation in which the artist was worried about the need for a motivated teaching by all the mazarroneros and aimed at children and young people.
A teaching that brings them closer to their people, their History and their Heritage and, at this point, there was also a high and clear claim of the preacher to recover the Casino, treat as true treasures that are the Phoenician ships, value the mines and take advantage of the weather and beaches "that have not lost their beauty since the first settlements."
Words that were nodded for more than one present in the room.
At the end, the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, awarded the gold shield of the Town Hall to the preacher by placing it on his jacket.
The first mayor was also in charge of introducing the intervention of Isabel Guillermo, commenting that the act of the proclamation "is a reflection of the devotion we feel for our Patroness and also a very particular way that the mazarroneros have to extol our symbols and our identity from a deep respect to our values, customs and traditions that make us who we are. Our preacher of this year 2019 represents all these values ".
"Our preacher is a simple and human woman, friend of her friends, a woman sensitive and committed to society and defender of our culture and our symbols, and is reflected in her creations, which is her way of understanding the world around her and to express what is in his heart, "added Gaspar Miras, who concluded by saying that" for all this Isabel, it is a pride and an honor for me as mayor and for the people of Mazarrón that this year you are our preacher. "
The councilor of Festejos, Miguel Ángel Peña, also took part in the event, who, in addition to congratulating the preacher, explained, as his first proclamation of patron celebrations as mayor of the area, that "a few months ago a new challenge was presented before me , I had no doubts, I wanted to work for my municipality and that is what I do every day, making the best of myself. "
Peña thanked the support in these beginnings of colleagues, municipal workers and security forces for their work and involvement with the parties and opted to "grow our parties, improve them, but maintaining and recovering traditions."
Minutes before the proclamation, Isabel Guillermo was received in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall by almost all of the Municipal Corporation.
There he signed in the honor book of the City Council, as is the tradition of all preachers, and received a surprise in the form of a very special gift from the mayor.
The gift was a copy of a story with a drawing of the proclamation appearing in a school newspaper in which it was announced that Isabel Guillermo had been awarded in a drawing competition in 1980 and that it is kept in the Municipal Archive of Mazarrón.
A work that the municipal archive, Magdalena Campillo, rescued for this special occasion.
