140 athletes will meet next Saturday, November 30 at the XV National Fishing Open 'Bahía de Mazarrón' which will take place from 6 pm on the beaches of Isla Plana, Alamillo, Castellar and Bolnuevo.
The sporting event was presented by the Councilor for Sports, Francisco José García, and the treasurer of the Fishing Club of Puerto de Mazarrón, Luis Mateos.
Mateos thanked in the first place, not only the City Council, but also "to the collaborating companies because without their help it would be practically impossible to hold a meeting of this size" since it is "the biggest event that takes place within its category of National Open with the participation of athletes from Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Almeria, Mallorca, Lugo, Melilla, Málaga, among other provinces. "
For logistics and security, the test is limited to 140 participants but "the number of participants could be greater because there are people who are unable to participate," added Mateos, who also stressed that "there are 5 important economic prizes, with 1000 euros for the champion, and trophies and hams for the classified between the sixth and the twentieth position. "
In addition, this year the test will have a solidarity character since "each participant has been requested to bring 2 kilos of non-perishable food, which will have about 300 kilos of food to be donated to Cáritas."
An idea that was applauded by the Councilor for Sports that encouraged citizens "to approach the clubhouse in Rihuete on Saturday night to share with us the delivery of trophies."
