The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the director of the National Area of ​​the Real Madrid Foundation, Silvia Montes-Jovellar, yesterday signed the renewal of the agreement between the City Council and the aforementioned foundation to continue developing their sports school.
The event was also attended by Higinio Martínez, director of the delegation of Levante de Aqualia, an entity that guarantees the sustainability of the project with scholarships and semi-scholarships for children at risk of social exclusion or disadvantage;
and the Councilor for Sports, Francisco José García.
Accompanying them were also the director of the Soccer Schools, Rafael García, and the head of Institutional Relations, Felix Gonzalez, by the foundation of the Madrid club;
and Francisco José Catalan, head of Aqualia's service in Mazarrón, by the water company.
Subsequently, all together visited the socio-sports school that meets its seventh consecutive season, with more than 60 places for children between 5 and 17 years, and has already served almost half a thousand children of the town with and without the risk of exclusion .
From its beginnings this project had the impulse of the then delegate of the Real Madrid camp, Agustín Herrerín, a local resident, who died in April of this year;
as well as with the support for its sustainability of the Aqualia water company.
Every week, in the municipal sports complex of the Media Legua, sessions are held in which minors from the local social services participate in equality with the rest of the children of the environment, without discrimination of any kind, making football an educational and integration tool according to the methodology of the Real Madrid Foundation, For a REAL education: Values ​​and Sports and Training football, teaching values.
