This Sunday, December 1, Mazarrón has an appointment with art with one of the most important pictorial meetings in the regional scene.
The XVII Outdoor Painting Contest 'Landscapes of Mazarrón' Memorial 'Domingo Valdivieso' arrives with important developments that have been announced by the Councilor for Culture, Ginés Campillo, and the appointment coordinator, Javier Lorente.
"Our painting contest raises the amount of its awards this year," as Campillo announced, who thanked "the companies that award the awards next to the City Council, which delivers the first one, who continue to bet on this initiative that attracts a large number of artists to the municipality who discover in Mazarrón a special place to capture their art.
Thus, the first remnant 'Domingo Valdivieso', will be this year endowed with 2,500 euros.
The second prize has a value of 1,500 euros.
The third presents an amount of 1,000 euros.
In addition there is a Special Prize for Watercolor, endowed with 600 euros and, completing this relationship, four accésits of 500 euros each are contemplated.
Ginés Campillo also wanted to show "a special thank you to Javier Lorente who, in addition to being the person who helped us recover the contest, has put his whole soul in it."
The mayor of Culture recalled that "the celebration of the memorial coincides with the celebration of the float contest that, far from supposing a problem, is another incentive to paint in Mazarrón, there will be many more people on the street and they will realize and enjoy the painters in the streets. "
As stated in the rules, "the contest will open at 8 in the morning at the Cultural Center and at six in the afternoon work will be received. The winning works will be announced about 8 in the afternoon at the Cultural Center itself "added Campillo who has also revealed that" this delivery will be enlivened as a novelty with music by Maxi and Juan Álvarez ".
Javier Lorente thanked the City Council "to continue making this contest, because he is one of the pioneers in the Region of Murcia and especially to Ginés because it was when he was mayor when he recovered."
Lorente added that "it is an honor to be part of this contest, because great artists from all parts of Spain arrive to participate in it."
Lorente, who has also participated as a painter on other occasions, has described the event as "show".
Since "it is a delight to see people paint in the streets and beaches of Mazarrón. So I encourage the city to look for painters in the corners of Mazarrón because they can be proud to have a contest like this."
