The new campaign wants to prevent animals from giving away as if they were treated like another toy.
The Department of Animal Welfare has launched a campaign, on the occasion of Christmas, since in many homes puppies and other pets will be given away, where some of them end up becoming "broken toys", abandoned animals.
The council wants to promote the adoption of dogs this Christmas and give a touch of attention to avoid abandonment of these animals.
The councilor of the area, Silvia García, emphasizes that "animals are not gifts, they are living beings that must be taken care of," thus sensitizing citizens, children and adults, about the responsibility of holding a pet.
The annual abandonment figures in our country are around 140,000 animals.
Having a pet involves many responsibilities and an important financial outlay.
In fact, García has opted for "adoption instead of purchase, since there are protectors, with dogs waiting to be adopted and there is no better time to take home one of them than these dates in which, in addition to give illusion, we can give these animals a better future. "
The image of the campaign will be present in different places of the municipality.
