The Handball Association 'Villa de Mazarrón', with the collaboration of the Handball Federation of the Region of Murcia and the City Council of Mazarrón, held last Sunday in the sports hall 'La Aceńa' a day of 'Peque-Handball' so that "the little ones start in this sport and educate themselves in the values ​​it represents", as explained by the president of the aforementioned club, José Tomás Gallego.

The Handball Association 'Villa de Mazarrón' took the witness of this sport in 2018 after the disappearance of the women's handball team of the municipality and aims to have enough players in the coming years to compete at the regional level.

Therefore, José Tomás Gallego reminded parents that the club's sports school "is open for those children who want to practice handball."

The president of the Handball Federation of Murcia, Daniel Santos, "the tour of 'Peque-Handball' is one of our star programs because we carry it out with the little ones and it is what excites us most" and added that it has as aim that "the children know this sport and become familiar with it".

The idea of ​​bringing it to Mazarrón came from the "tradition that has been in Mazarrón around the handball that now has to be reactivated and resurfaced."

The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, who was accompanied on the appointment by Councilor Plácida Gómez;

He added that "this morning they are enjoying this sport about 80 children who, although mostly from Mazarrón, have also come from other points such as Murcia, Puerto Lumbreras, Roldán and Bullas; leading them to a healthy activity such as sports for them to take healthy habits. "

The first mayor stressed the commitment of the City Council "with activities of this type to revitalize the historical trajectory that the handball has had in Mazarrón for many years" so he encouraged the Handball Association 'Villa de Mazarrón' to " continue with that momentum and that force because our sports schools do a great activity complementary to the educational activity they receive in schools. "
