The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the Councilor for Tourism, Raquel Raja, have held various work meetings at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) that have been aimed at the implementation of projects that seasonally adjust tourism in the municipality and highlight new strengths that Mazarrón must exploit during the low season months with less influx of tourists.
In this sense, the City Council has held several meetings with companies related to the cycling sector in nature to place Mazarrón as a reference destination in terms of services and facilities for the practice of cycling is its different specialties, enhancing the routes of this sport both along the coast and inside the municipality and also promoting active and sports tourism to make Mazarrón a 'Bike Friendly' destination.
Also, other meetings held have focused on growing tourism such as animal friendly tourism.
Canine beaches have been a recurring theme in these 'Dog Friendly' meetings, and it is especially noteworthy that companies have highlighted the importance of Mazarrón being the first municipality with a quality 'Q' flag in Spain on a dog beach.
It has also worked with agencies such as the OTA (online travel agency) MINUBE and the receptive agency in the marketing of the WALA destination.
