On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Department of Equality has prepared various events for this month of March.
Among them, the presentation of the book 'Lucía, la romi lorquina' by Luis Caparrós is scheduled to take place this Thursday, March 5 at 8 pm in the plenary hall of the Town Hall of Mazarrón, with free admission.
The book is about the life of a woman born in Puentes (Lorca) in the year 1456 and who, at the age of twelve, is kidnapped and made a slave, stealing her desires, dreams and hopes.
The protagonist lives a good part of her life with Boabdil, the last sultan of the Kingdom of Granada and tells how she saw the 'King Boy'.
Lucia is a woman who fights, again and again, against the strong walls with a single weapon: clean and true love.
The novel is a song to nature enclosed in simplicity, life, love and the beauty of living.
A call and a reflection on the times we have lived, in which women fight daily to defend their rights and freedoms.
'Lucía, la romí lorquina' is also a song to our roots, to our traditions and customs;
In short, to our culture.
Luis Caparrós Mirón is a school teacher and a native of the neighborhood of Rambla de Oria (Oria), in the province of Almería.
Teaching, his experience as a politician and his research studies support him.
In this novel, in addition to giving us the opportunity to enjoy his reading, he offers us a beautiful and simple tribute to women, the people and their people.
