The Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the Deputy Mayor, Ginés Campillo, met Monday in the Region's capital with the new Government Delegate in Murcia, José Vélez.
During the meeting, in addition to congratulating the new delegate on his appointment, Miras and Campillo conveyed to him the need for the body to support the City Council in unlocking and achieving important projects for the municipality.
Thus, Campillo highlighted the "total and absolute predisposition" that the Government Delegation has shown on important issues of interest to Mazarrón, such as the recovery of the Phoenician Ship 'Mazarrón 2', the completion of the Alamillo promenade and the splitting of the Mazarrón highway Port.
Regarding the wreck sunk on the beach of La Isla, Campillo commented that "there are still storms and, to remove it, there are discrepancies between the technicians of the ministry and of the Autonomous Community."
Therefore, "to solve and accelerate this enhancement of the Phoenician Ship, help and mediation have been requested from the Government delegation."
On the Alamillo promenade, Campillo explained that "where everyone sold that the project was in the drawer and was not being carried out, it is something that is not true."
The head of Urban Planning and Infrastructure revealed that "there is a problem of land disposal that is about to be solved. And it is not a problem that has appeared now since June 2019, but was already before."
Campillo denounced that "having said that everything was resolved and prepared for the walk and that it was abandonment by us and Costas, it is not fair. It is not fair that this is said when there was, and still is, a problem of disposition of land because the owner of about 400 meters is in bankruptcy and the Tax Agency has a mortgage on that part of the land, which makes it very difficult for the project to go ahead ".
Regarding the splitting of the Mazarrón-Puerto highway, Ginés Campillo commented that "the problem is the lack of financing by the Autonomous Community of Murcia, that the accounts are not in good condition and there is no capacity to finance a construction work That type. Contrary to the Mazarrón City Council, they do not have a financial lung because things have not been done well "and he complained that" many infrastructures have been made outside of Mazarrón, but we are never here. "
Gaspar Miras also provided some information on this matter.
Specifically, the mayor explained that "the first project dates back to 2010 worth 14 million euros, but that project was unable to be carried out by the Ministry of Public Works."
Hence, "they will think that the project should be undertaken under the formula of public-private financing for shadow tolls."
"With the new law on public sector contracts, they must have a greater quantification than the 2010 project, and they extend the split from the Las Pedreras roundabout to the Alamillo roundabout, this new budget being just over 20 million euros. And This new financing formula must undergo an economic-financial feasibility study, "continued the mayor.
The situation is now in that approval of its viability, which must be given by the "National Office for the Evaluation of Projects of the Ministry of Finance, which has not yet been launched because it is recently created," explained Miras.
The mayor complained that "the previous local government and the current regional government throw balls, when we are working and taking an interest in each of these projects, taking the necessary steps so that we can do the paperwork ourselves in the Ministry."
Likewise, during the meeting it was also decided to hold a security meeting for after Easter with the aim of organizing the Citizen Security device between the Civil Guard, Local Police and Municipal Emergency Services for the summer, at which time expected the arrival of reinforcements to the post of the Benemérita in Puerto de Mazarrón.
This Local Security Board will be held in Mazarrón with the presence of the new government delegate, José Vélez.
