The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, participated this morning by videoconference in the meeting that the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, has held with the different mayors of the Region of Murcia to coordinate efforts in the face of the situation caused by the coronavirus .

Gaspar Miras has asked the President to "adjust the regional budget to the new needs that the current situation is going to pose to us, in order to mitigate the effects that this health crisis is going to produce in the municipalities of the Region and thus equip the municipalities, that they are the closest administration to the citizen, with tools and formulas that help us to overcome this situation together ".

In this sense, the first mayor has stressed "the importance of revitalizing the local economy when the Alarm State ends, and that employment aid is available and for those entrepreneurs and self-employed who make up the traditional commerce of the municipalities."

Miras has transferred to the president the "full disposition of the Mazarrón City Council and its means to the Regional Government and other mayors" at the same time that he has requested "supply of material, especially sanitary, so that local administrations can work in optimal conditions."

In addition, the Mazarrón City Council is studying and carrying out a series of measures to alleviate the situation derived from this health crisis, in order to support the local economy and enable the citizens of the municipality to face the consequences that the current will entail. emergency situation.

For his part, President López Miras has transferred to the mayors "that they are not alone and that the Autonomous Community is at their service for what is in our hands, or to transmit their ideas and suggestions to the Government of Spain."

López Miras has also announced to the mayors that the regional government has approved a series of measures in tax matters to alleviate companies and citizens and strengthen the municipalities in the face of the economic consequences of the coronavirus health crisis.

Likewise, a deferral of own and assigned taxes will be approved.

In addition, given this extraordinary situation, the regional government will modify the fiscal calendar of the municipalities with which the Regional Tax Agency has a tax management agreement, including Mazarrón, initially extending until July the deadline for voluntary period of market standards, use of public roads, garbage and vehicle circulation tax.

In this sense, a line of advances of 10 million euros has been made available to the corporations affected by this modification of the fiscal calendar to alleviate possible treasury tensions.
